I thought Iād figured out how to be fashionable in the winter. Last year I purchased two coats to add to the collection I had brought with me from California. One was a leather coat, which was a mistake. Leather gets very cold and seems to make the wearer even colder. The other coat was a beige wool vintage coat with a mink collar-cute but far too lightweight for New York winter. Those coats I have labeled as California Winter Coats. There is such a difference, and anyone traveling to NY with the duds they purchased in CA may be in for a very rude awakening.
Last week was the first week of consistent cold weather M-F. Monday, I wore a black coat with a mink fur collar – no scarf and I was extremely cold. Tuesday I wore a green wool coat with fur trim. Wednesday I wore a gray vintage wool I.Magnin coat, still I found myself unable to warm up. It amazed me as I ran home from the train station that I still saw New Yorkers, mostly clad in Black down coats, strolling as if the cold wasn’t searing a hole through their skin. I will have to say all the coats pictured below, while stylish have not exactly kept me warm. I am still looking for the coat the is truly going to help me brave the weather.
